Organization of the PBRC
The Biotechnology Platform in Reproduction of Carnivores is organized into four (04) technical sections, namely:
Section of Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction of carnivores.
Section of Analysis, cryopreservation, storage and transport of animal semen.
Section of Microbiological and Genomic Analysis.

The missions of the PBRC
The biotechnological platform in carnivore reproduction mainly aims to:
- Provide scientific and technical assistance in the field of breeding and assisted reproduction of military, police and rescue dogs.
- Carry out research and scientific partnership programs in medicine, surgery and reproduction of domestic and wild carnivores.
- Contribute to graduate and postgraduate university training, development and recycling in medicine, surgery and reproduction of domestic and wild carnivores.
- Produce, cryo-conserve, store and transport animal semen.
- Provide services in medicine, surgery and reproduction of carnivores.
- Contribute to the development of experimental medicine and surgery on animal models in partnership with university hospitals and medical research centres.
- Contribute to the development and modernization of utilitarian dog breeding in Algeria.
- Contribute to the preservation of local canine breeds and wild carnivores protected in Algeria.
4- The animal section, in charge of:
- Accommodation and management of animals belonging to the platform,
- The management and maintenance of the various premises and areas of the animal facility,
- The management of feed and maintenance products for animals,
- Management of animal equipment and harnesses.
3- The microbiological and genomic analysis section, in charge of:
- Genetic identification and parentage control,
- Selection and genetic improvement,
- Control of diseases with genetic determinism,
- The preservation of local canine breeds and wild carnivores protected in Algeria,
- Carrying out microbiological analyzes on breeding animals, seeds and sperm storage media.
2- The analysis, cryopreservation, storage and transport of animal semen section, in charge of:
- Conventional and unconventional analysis of animal semen.
- Quality control throughout the animal semen production process.
- Production, cryopreservation, storage and transport of seeds and embryos.
- Development and production of animal semen conservation media.
1- The medicine, surgery and reproduction of carnivores section, in charge of:
- Monitoring and controlling reproduction in domestic and wild carnivores,
- On the realization of assisted reproduction techniques in domestic and wild carnivores
- On the practice of medicine and the realization of medical imaging and analyzes in domestic and wild carnivores.
- On the practice of anesthesia-resuscitation and "traditional and endoscopic" surgery in domestic and wild carnivores.
