 Presentation of the laboratory

3.1 Brief description:

The Electrical Systems and Remote Control Laboratory (LabSET) was created in 2000 to support research/development activities at the level of the electronics department of the Faculty of Technology

(formerly engineering sciences) from Saad Dahleb Blida University1 by:

     – The acquisition of appropriate scientific equipment and the proposal of topical themes and projects.

– The promotion of training through research and the supervision of new sectors

– The establishment of links between the university and the surrounding industrial fabric

3.2 Objectives of scientific research and technological development:

1) Control and Diagnosis of Electrical Machines:

– The analysis of the behavior of nonlinear systems, in particular, the transition to chaos;

– The proposal and adaptation of optimization techniques based on the methods of

artificial intelligence to identify and track system parameters for

    assess their state of health;

– The synthesis of linear and nonlinear control laws and observers

– The creation of experimental test benches intended for electrical machines and

   chaotic systems.

2) Synthesis and Simulation of Meta-Heuristic Methods:

– Metaheuristics for optimization and decision support in complex systems.

– Synthesis of recent metaheuristic methods, study of a unifying approach.

– Metaheuristic optimization tools in the field of fuzzy modeling of systems.

– Contribution of metaheuristics in automatic classification and data mining

   (data mining).

3) Characterization and Simulation of Electrical Systems:

– Experimental Achievements:

  • Installation and management of instrumentation for measuring energy parameters
  • Design and production of test benches for elements of solar and conventional electrical systems
  • Realization of digital aid tools helping to simulate the operation of electrical systems and intelligent energy management

– Theoretical studies:

  • PV power systems with hybrid storage for the energy self-sufficient home
  • Integration of new generation PV modules in the building
  • Autonomous mini power plants and PV power plants connected to the LV network

  • Rationalization of electricity consumption
  • Analysis of the life cycle of photovoltaic systems
  • Laws and Standards

4) Control of Systems:

– Modeling and identification of complex systems,

 – Development of control strategies for complex systems:

Advanced Linear Control, Adaptive Control, Optimal Control, Control

robust, intelligent control (fuzzy logic, neural networks, meta-

heuristics), Diagnostics and fault-tolerant control, Numerical implementation

       (DSP, FPGA) and experimental validation,

– Applications: Robotics, electrical systems, chemical processes, photovoltaic systems, vertical flight devices

5) Control and Diagnosis of Electrical Networks:

– Dynamic stability of electrical networks, Application of neural networks to the study of

   network operation.
